About Dovecot College of Nursing
Welcome to Dovecot college of Nursing (DCN), the college for the nurse of tomorrow. We at DCN are moving quickly to meet the health care needs of our country and the region, come and be part of us. Zambia, like many other countries in the southern hemisphere, has been critically hit by shortage of nurses and midwives. Currently Zambia has only 8,369 nurses and midwives out of the recommended establishment of 22, 32 (Ministry of Health 2006). Recognising the crucial contribution nurses and midwives make to the health care delivery systems and the communities they serve, we at DCN felt compelled to be part of our Ministry of Health strategic plan (2006-2010) which aims at scaling up the production of nurses and midwives in Zambia.

The college offers a nationally and internationally recognized competence-based, curriculum leading to the award of :
Registered Nursing diploma for Direct entry by the General Nursing Council of Zambia (GNC).
Registered Nursing diploma for Inservice Nurses, who wish to covert from Enrolled nurses to Registered Nurses by the General Nursing Council of Zambia (GNC).
Clinical Medicine Diploma accredited to the Health Professions Council of Zambia
In order to execute this programmes, the college has recruited high-level and competent academicians in the areas of their respective specialties. This has been deliberately done to provide the much-needed guidance to students and staff in the practicum areas where students will go for practice.
