The Save the Children Fund, commonly known as Save the Children, is an international non-governmental organization that promotes children’s rights, provides relief and helps support children in developing countries.

Responsibilities:

  • Will be in charge of prevention and response to cases of GBV, counselling and case management in the Dadaab refugee host community and the refugee camps.
  • Establish and revive the host community structures in five (5) wards under Dadaab sub-county and will establish GBV response mechanism that is responsive to the safety and protection of boys, girls, men and women and survivors of gender-based violence.
  • In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Graduate degree in counseling or Psychology, with 2 years’ experience working with children is desirable or a diploma with 3 years of active experience in GBV work.
  • Good communication skills with fluency in written and spoken English and Kiswahili
  • Knowledge of community based child protection approaches, preferably including experience in participatory approaches and child participation methodologies.
  • Ability to use a wide range of child counseling methodologies
  • Good managerial and IT skills including the use of Word and database software.
  • Demonstrable ability to adapt to changing programme priorities and emergency priorities that may arise
  • Strong self-starter, able to take initiative and adapt to changing circumstances and priorities.
