Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is a State Corporation established through the Science and Technology (Amendment) Act of 1979, which has since been amended to the Science, Technology and Innovation Act 2013. The 1979 Act established KEMRI as a National body responsible for carrying out health research in Kenya.


  • Performance Management, Monitoring & Evaluation Officer
Responsibilities:
  • Assisting in drafting monitoring and evaluation frameworks and plans.
  • Assist in developing regular Monitoring and Evaluation reports.
  • Assist in developing operational research tools and data analysis.
  • Collect and populate data into the Monitoring and Evaluation database and facilitate retrieval.
  • Assisting in writing and submitting reports on specific assignments.
  • Assisting in evaluating the implementation of performance contracts and compile reports.
  • Monitor and evaluate the implementation of the strategic plan and Annual Work Plans.

Qualifications;

  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Project Planning, and Management; Public Policy/Administration, Strategic Management, relevant science field, or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized university.

  • Laundry Machine Operator/ Housekeeper Attendant

 Responsibilities:

  • Cleaning of the Laundry room.
  • Collecting and dispatching of linen.
  • Inspecting and sorting linen before washing.
  • Washing the linen.
  • Ironing and arranging linen.
  • Carrying out regular/routine checks to determine the functionality of the laundry machines.
  • Issuing the cleaned linen.
  • Ensuring that standards and procedures are followed.
  • Identify linen that needs to be replaced.
  • Keeping records of the Laundry tools equipment, materials and store.

Qualifications;

  • Certificate course in Laundry, Housekeeping or Institutional Management from a recognized institution.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution.

  • Laboratory Technician 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring laboratory safety sample collection delivery and reception.
  • Processing documentation and reporting.
  • Perform simple analytical and diagnostic work.
  • Handling and disposing of laboratory waste.
  • Collect, prepare and store research samples and specimen.
  • Assist in fieldwork.

Qualifications;

  1. Registration Certificate issued by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB) where applicable.
  2. Valid practicing license from Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board where applicable.
  3. Proficiency in computer applications.
  4. Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution.
  5. CRB Clearance Certificate.
  6. Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission Certificate.

  • Planning and Strategy Officer 

 Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the development and monitoring of the Institute Work plan and budget tracking.
  • Assisting in writing and submitting reports on specific assignments.
  • Collection and Provision of economic planning data as required from time to time.
  • Assisting in compiling performance contract reports from the departments and keep records on performance contract targets.
  • Participating in the preparation and implementation of the strategic plan.

Qualifications;

  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Project Planning, and Management; Public Policy/Administration, Strategic Management, relevant science field, or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.

 Responsibilities:

  • In-charge of all the functions and activities in the kitchen.
  • Ensuring that standards recipes and procedures are followed in food production.
  • Responsible for adhering to Public Health regulations on cooking.
  • Keeping records of foodstuff and catering equipment, materials and supplies.
  • Carrying out regular/routine checks to determine the functionality of the catering equipment.
  • Assist in care and maintenance of work service area, supplies and equipment.

Qualifications;

  • 1-year Certificate in Food and Beverage Production and Service from a recognized institution.
  • 2-3 years Certificate in any of the following disciplines; Institutional Management; Basic Cookery, Catering institution; Hospitality Management; Technology in Hotel management Kenya or its equivalent qualification from a recognized.
  • Food Handlers Medical Certificate.
  • Demonstrated professional competence and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution.
  • CRB Clearance Certificate.
  • Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission Certificate.
  • Good Conduct Certificate.

Responsibilities:
