Biovision Africa Trust (BvAT) is a not-for-profit organization established in Kenya in 2009 by the Biovision Foundation for ecological development in Switzerland and supported by the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE) in Nairobi. The Trust’s goal is to alleviate poverty and improve the livelihoods of smallholder farmers in Kenya and other African countries through supporting the dissemination of information and knowledge on appropriate technology to improve human, animal, plant, and environmental health.

Purpose and Scope:

Reporting to the Infonet Content Manager, the consultant will update 56 trees datasheets, 46 crop datasheets, 4 indigenous vegetable datasheets, 9 medicinal plant datasheets and develop 40 new datasheets in the plant health section.

Infonet is positioned to contribute to the continental agenda of accelerating adoption of ecological organic agriculture (EOA) currently spearheaded by BvAT and partners under its AUC given mandate as the official host of the Continental Secretariat. Infonet becoming one of the knowledge platforms of the Knowledge Centre for Organic Agriculture (KCOA) in Africa can become a vital information platform for the EOA country implementing partners (CIPs) and their associates in the continent.

Requirements

Education and Knowledge:

  • The consultancy requires master or PhD experts in Agriculture, Indigenous knowledge, Ecology, Biology, One Health, with at least 10 years experience in publishing agricultural books and manuals in Agroecology.
