The Save the Children Fund, commonly known as Save the Children, is an international non-governmental organization that promotes children’s rights, provides relief and helps support children in developing countries.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Deputy Country Director of Programme Development and Quality (DCD-PDQ) in supporting the strategic direction and coordination of the Country Office programme and ensuring high quality programmes that deliver immediate and lasting change for children.
  • In particular, the DPDQ will build high organizational technical competence and provision of quality leadership and technical assistance, and support the team in monitoring and assuring the quality of the implementation of those programmes through the provision of high-level technical assistance and leadership throughout the project cycle.
  • Capacity building to staff and partners; and the systematic generation, dissemination and uptake of evidence and learning to inform project design and implementation, as well as advocacy efforts to shape wider policy and practice.
  • Will also be actively involved in networking, collaboration and partnerships with relevant stakeholders in the country (Government ministries, UN agencies, INGOs and civil society organisations), as well as playing a leading role in establishing, maintaining and expanding donor relations to mobilise resources to in line with the sector’s strategic ambitions.

Qualifications And Experience:

  • Master’s degree in social sciences; economics; natural resource management or a related field
  • A minimum of 10 years’ management experience in an NGO environment, and experience directing and implementing programs for children in both emergency and development contexts, preferably with solid experience in more than one of the Save the Children priority sectors: education, protection, health and nutrition, FSL
  • Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international and matrix management environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
  • Strong results orientation, with the ability to challenge existing mind sets
  • Experience of solving complex issues through analysis, the definition of a clear way forward and ensuring buy-in
