Descriptions;

In addressing issues linked to education and training for a competent legal profession in Kenya, both the pre and post-colonial governments have undertaken various initiatives and set up several commissions of inquiry to formulate appropriate policy. These include the establishment of The Kenya School of Law following recommendations by the Denning Committee (1962) to provide vocational legal training. In an attempt to streamline and re-organise the Kenya School of Law in the 1990s the Akiwumi Committee (1995) on the Status and Management of the Kenya School of Law was appointed.

Responsibilities:

These are experts in any of the specific fields of Law with requisite experience. They should inter alia have an in-depth understanding of the skills expected of ATP candidates in the Advocates Training Programme (ATP). The experts are expected to set objective and quality examination questions in accordance with prescriptions of Council.

Qualifications

  • LLB degree with 7 years’ experience in practice or
  • Masters degree in Law, Accounting, Finance, Human Resource Management with a
  • minimum of 7 years teaching experience. A PhD in the relevant field will be an added advantage.Experience in setting examinations for other professional examining bodies will also ban added advantage.
  • Ability to work within strict deadlines

Applicants should identify three (3) subject areas that they are competent in to set examinations, in order of priority.
