UNICEF, also known as the United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund, is a United Nations agency responsible for providing humanitarian and developmental aid to children worldwide.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical guidance to implementing partner(s), including the monitoring of existing and development of new programme agreements, with a focus on case management for children with child protection concerns, foster care placement/alternative care arrangements, community based psychosocial support services and outreach programming for children and adolescents;
  • Work with the UNICEF Country Office to support the effective roll out of appropriate Child Protection Information Management Systems (CPIMS+) for use by implementing partners; including Lead bi-weekly caseload analysis with CP case management implementing partners and coordinate case conferences, case reconciliations, CP case verification exercises with UNHCR and other CP implementing partners, especially for SEA an child safeguarding allegations (upon request from TCO);
  • Technically lead the development of interagency case management protocols for Kigoma refugee operation together with UNHCR and other CP partners in the operation
  • Advocate and support the data exchange between CPIMS+/PRIMERO and UNHCR PROGRES V4 following the global guidance;
  • With guidance from CP Specialist (Response) Lead and coordinate Kigoma level interagency cross border coordination, trafficking and other children on the move initiatives;
  • Identify gaps in capacity of implementing partners to address child protection issues and organize briefings, trainings and technical assistance as required
  • Support the Regional Secretariat and LGAs through their respective women and children protection committees
    to develop and implement multispectral comprehensive district child protection plans and the Regional
    Communication Plan to End VAWC;

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Advanced university degree in social work, international relations, law, child psychology, or relevant field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with the UN and/or other relevant child protection actors, including experience with child protection programming in emergencies.
  • Experience with Coordination and Information Management (excel proficiency required).
  • Practical field-base experience with operationalizing community based psychosocial support programming and programming for adolescents and young persons.
  • Practical field-based experience in child protection case management required. Previous case work experience and
    practical usage of CPIMS+ valuable.
