CUBS PhD International Awards In Human Resources/Economics 2022
CUBS PhD International Awards In Human Resources/Economics 2022 – How to Apply.
Description:
The Department of Management and Marketing and the Department of Economics, Cork University Business School (CUBS), University College Cork, invites motivated and talented graduates with outstanding academic records to apply for the CUBS PhD Scholarship for a project titled “Scaffolding Structures for a Post-Pandemic Hybrid Global Work Model: Evaluating Organisational Policies and Practices.” The supervisory team consists of Dr. Stefan Jooss (Lecturer in Management), Dr. Aileen Murphy (Senior Lecturer in Economics), and Dr. Edel Walsh (Lecturer in Economics).
Project Outline:
This PhD research will investigate the scaffolding structures that organizations provide for a post-pandemic hybrid global work model encompassing a range of flexible global working arrangements which have become an ever-increasing feature of multinational enterprises (MNEs). There are early signs that collocated flexible global work remains a key feature of how global organizations conduct their work post-pandemic, alongside increasing investments in virtual global work. Leading organizations are actively considering hybrid global work models and the reality is that the sustainability of global work in MNEs requires workers and firms to find a healthy balance between collocated and virtual working spaces. Creating truly healthy workplaces has been a strategic priority for many organizations in recent years. However, it appears that the related initiatives were mainly considering on-site employees and failed to adequately consider the health and well-being implications of flexible global workers that are often in-between sites or working virtually. A strong set of organizational support policies and practices improve individual and organizational performance. At the same time, such policies and practices can enhance well-being and a positive employment relationship. Thus, there is a mutual gain for individuals and organizations. This research will consider global hybrid work from both human resources and economic perspectives.
