University of Zambia Law School 2023 Intake – Application Form

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMES (DIRECT ENTRY)
1. BACHELOR OF LAW (LLB)
The University of Zambia School of Law is offering direct admission to its Bachelor of Law (LLB) programme at the full-time or part-time level. Lectures for the part-time programme will be offered in the evenings between 17:00 hours and 20:00 hours. The degree requirements for the part-time programme are the same as the degree requirements for the full-time programme.

To qualify for direct admission to the LLB programme, a candidate must hold:
(a) 5 credit passes at ‘O’ level including English; AND
(b) A first degree in any discipline from a recognized university; Or
(c) A professional qualification equivalent to a degree (e.g. ACCA); Or;
(d) 3 passes at Cambridge ‘A’ level or the equivalent; Or
(e) A diploma in law from the University of Zambia or from the National Institute of Public
Administration. Diplomas in law from foreign institutions will be considered on their
respective merits on a case by case basis; Or
(f) A Certificate in Legal Studies (CLS) from the University of Zambia.
Please note that meeting the minimum entry requirements does not guarantee admission to the programme. Admission to the programme is subject to the availability of places.

2. CERTIFICATE IN LEGAL STUDIES PROGRAMME
The University of Zambia School of Law is offering a Certificate in Legal Studies for the
duration of one academic term.

Entry requirements programme: 5 Credit O’ Levels.
Upon completion of the Certificate, graduates may apply for direct entry to the LLB Programme.
Please note that meeting the minimum entry requirements does not guarantee admission to the programme. Admission to the programme is subject to the availability of places.

2 POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES
The University of Zambia School of Law is offering the following postgraduate programmes:
1. ONE YEAR MASTER OF LAWS DEGREE, LL.M
Applicants must possess a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Zambia or any
other recognized university.
2. MASTER OF LAWS DEGREE, LL.M (BY RESEARCH)
Applicants must possess a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Zambia or any
other recognized university with a merit or upper credit or its equivalent.
3. POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN GENDER AND THE LAW
(a) Applicants must possess a degree in any discipline from a recognized university. Provided preference may be given to applicants with relevant experience in the field of gender or related fields, and
(b) Applicants should have the ability to work with both legal and non-legal materials in the
English language.

NOTE: ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT
Please note that meeting the minimum entry requirements for any of these programmes does not guarantee admission to the programme. Admission to the programme is subject to the availability places. The language of instruction at the University of Zambia is English. Therefore, all candidates that are admitted are expected to show evidence of proficiency in the English language. A School Certificate credit, with ‘O’ level
passes in English language is accepted as satisfying this requirement and is normally demanded.
Application forms can be obtained from Customer Care, UNZA Great East Road campus, upon payment of a non-refundable application fee of K150.00 for Zambians or USD 60.00 for non-Zambians.

Payment for applications forms should be made either at Standard Chartered Bank, Account Number 0100110273800 or
First National Bank Zambia (FNB), Account Number 62607694371. The account name is UNZA Registrars Department.

Application forms can also be downloaded from the official UNZA website: www.unza.zm or obtained from the University of Zambia Provincial Centres Offices. In this case, the application fee still has to be made at the bank.
