St. John Vianney Seminary NPC is an institution of the Catholic Church in South Africa that provides for the education and training for ministers of the Catholic Church, in particular diocesan priests. St John Vianney Seminary NPC (Registered as a Non-Profit Company 037-914) is both a training facility and a house of formation.

As a training facility, it is registered with the Department of Education through the Council for Higher Education as a private provider of higher education, under the Higher Education Act, 1997 with the Registration Certificate Number 2000/HE08/007.

Four qualifications are duly registered with the same authorities, namely the Bachelor of Arts (Philosophy), Bachelor of Theology, Bachelor of Ministry and Bachelor of Theology (Honours).

As a house of formation, St John Vianney Seminary NPC provides for the human growth and development of students in the spiritual, pastoral and communal spheres.

St John Vianney Seminary Admission Requirements 2024

To be eligible for admission to degree study, applicants need to meet the minimum requirements for eligibility:

  • Applicants holding a South African National Senior Certificate (NSC) need to pass a minimum of 4 subjects at a rating of 4 (Adequate Achievement, 50-59%) or better in any four 20-credit NSC subjects.
  • Applicants holding a South African Senior Certificate need matriculation endorsement.
  • Applicants holding non–South African school-leaving certificates must qualify for a matriculation exemption certificate.
