The Walter Sisulu Local Municipality is a Category 2 Municipality. It is situated within the Joe Gqabi District Municipal Area, in the Eastern Cape.

The municipality is looking for the services of vibrant, committed and suitable, qualified and experienced individuals to fill the following positions:

POSITION: TWO (2) MUNICIPAL FINANCIAL INTERNS (EXTERNAL)
TASK GRADE: Financial Management Internship Programme MFMIP (24 Months Contract)
STIPEND: Between R100 000.00 per annum (All inclusive)

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Candidate should hold as a minimum, a three -year Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma with majors in Accounting, Economics and Financial Management including either Risk Management or Auditing among others.
  • Must be computer literate
  • Preference will be given to unemployed graduates

KEY PERFORMANCE AREA

The municipality is looking for interns who will be placed within Budget and Treasury Office. The internship programme will last for two (2) years.

The interns will be placed in units: deemed appropriate by the Mentor/Supervisor; to gain more experience on the Municipal Finance. The programme will be monitored and the interns will be required to meet standards as set by mentors.

Successful applicants will sign an internship agreement in addition to the employment contract. The purpose of the agreement is to ensure a commitment to the program, which includes full participation in educational, workplace assignments and the study of policies and procedures.

Internship overview: The MFMIP is a structured professional training and work experience program aimed at proving high quality education and practical exposure in key areas of Financial Services and Internal Audit to ensure that they acquire the necessary skill.

Preference will be given to a previously disadvantaged candidate residing within the Walter Sisulu Local Municipal area of jurisdiction.

The incumbent should be between the ages of 21 to 35 years old as outlined in the MFMIP guidelines.
