About Ibanda University
Ibanda University is located in Western Uganda. The district borders with the districts of Kamwenge to the North, Kitagwenda to the West, Mbarara to the South, and Kazo to the East each of them having varied livelihood systems predominantly subsistence farming and pastoralism. Consequently, the University commands a catchment population that yearns for university education, particularly given the averagely middle-income status of the population, and the prevalence of secondary and tertiary institutions of learning in the region. The University also benefits from a rich regional and international connectivity being easily accessible to Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and even Tanzania that have also provided some staff and students. Among others, it is against this background that the rationale for the establishment of Ibanda University was derived; to provide accessible quality university services to local, national, and regional stakeholders.
