About Justo Mwale University
Justo Mwale University (JMU) is a nondenominational institution that provides theological and educational programs in all fields and disciplines. The University started as a theological training college for ministers of the Reformed Church in Zambia in 1951 and later became known as Justo Mwale Theological College in 1975, in honour of the first Zambian ordained minister of the Reformed Church in Zambia, Rev Justo Mwale.
In 1989, the college board was expanded to include other churches with students at JMTC, and in 2008, the college was transformed into a university college. The university college began offering open and distance learning programs in theology and non-theology courses and programs in 2011. In 2014, the university college was officially transformed into Justo Mwale University.
The University has a new strategic plan for 2019-2023, which aims to expand the university’s program delivery and transform it into a fully-fledged university with an initial two schools: Theology and Religion, and Education. The University is registered with the Higher Education Authority (HEA) and has agreements with various international universities and organizations.
