About Mount Kenya University

Mount Kenya University is a private, multi-campus, university in the municipal town of Thika, Kenya. The university was founded by Prof. Simon N. Gicharu and has since become one of the largest private universities in Kenya, with an estimated 52,000 students, as of September 2015.

The requirements are:

Ph.D. Programme:  At least a Masters degree

Masters Programme: At least a Bachelors degree with a minimum of second class Honors – Upper Division from a recognized University or equivalent recognized by Mount Kenya University Senate OR A Bachelors Degree with at least, Second class Honors lower division and a minimum of two years work experience.

Post-Graduate Diploma programmes: At least a Bachelors degree from a recognized University or equivalent qualification recognized by Mount Kenya University Senate

Bachelor Programmes: At least a KCSE mean grade C+ (plus) or it’s equivalent OR Diploma in a relevant field

Diploma programmes: At least a KCSE Mean Grade of C- (minus) OR equivalent qualification

Certificate programmes: KCSE D+ (plus) OR equivalent qualification.

Kindly note that different courses require relevant cluster subjects qualification for admission e.g Diploma and certificate courses in College of Health Sciences require KCSE C (Plain) and C- respectively.
