Who is an International Student?

Northrise University defines an international student as any student who is not a Zambian citizen and is enrolled in any of the NU programs. There are three categories into which international students can be considered for admission. To qualify for admission into one of the programs under any of the categories, one has to fulfill the minimum entry requirements. The following are the categories under which international students can study:

1. Degree International Student – An international student enrolled in one of our programs seeking a qualification after the completion of the program.

2. Non-degree International Student – An international student who is not enrolled in a full program but may be enrolled in a course(s) as an audit student or for credit.

3. Exchange Student – An international student who is a degree pursing student at any of our partner universities and is enrolled for one semester at Northrise under the Student Exchange program.

Entry Requirements for Degree and Non-degree International Students

English Proficiency:

The first requirement for all International Students is to show proof of English proficiency. All our instruction at Northrise is done in the English language. The English requirement is intended to demonstrate competency in grammar and composition as well as comprehension and analysis of dense written material. International undergraduates will be required to submit a TOEFL or IELTS score report with the application for admission. In the absence of a TOEFL score, students will be required to test out of a NU administered English Test before they can be admitted to their program of interest. A Test Out fee applies. For applicants in possession of their TOEFL or IELTS scores, the scores will help to determine how much additional English as a Second Language instruction (ESL) you might need before full-time enrollment in university courses.

Undergraduate Programs:
