General Admissions Requirements

All applicants are required to meet the criteria specified below. Some programs have additional requirements be sure to check the requirements for your desired program of study.

Admission Requirements

To be considered for admission, you must have graduated from an approved secondary school (or be on track to graduate), received a diploma from an accredited home school association, or earned a GED.

High school or post-secondary college-level courses must include the following:

  • At least four English units
  • At least one biology unit
  • Two (2) units of Science with a related laboratory or an equivalent (One (1) of which must be biology).
  • At least two algebra units

Applicants will have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or greater on a 4.0-point scale in secondary or post-secondary education (whichever is more recent). However, the GPA requirement can be different depending on specific program requirements, please see UNDERGRADUATE-SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS and GRADUATE DEGREES, or please reach out to the Office of Admissions for additional questions.

An high school transcript, with an official school stamp, or an official GED transcript is also required. High school transcripts must include both courses completed through your junior year, as well as courses in progress during your senior year. If you’ve attended any post-secondary institutions, official transcripts for those institutions are required as well.

Additional Factors for Consideration

In addition to the required items above, the Admissions Team will take the following factors into consideration when making an admissions decision:

  • Class rank
  • Academic performance in post-secondary science and math courses
  • Community service
  • Health care-related service

No Application Deadline

  • For bachelor’s and master’s degrees, we accept an application for college admission throughout the year.
  • For associate degree and certificates:
    • February 1 – recommended Fall semester deadline
    • August 1 – recommended Spring semester deadline
  • PA College accepts students on a year-round basis, so any applications received after these dates will be considered for the next applicable semester. Contact the Office of Admissions for information regarding space availability at [email protected] or (800) 622-5443.

Admissions Decision – What Happens Next?

  • Once you have submitted all of your required supplemental documents, your application is complete and will be sent to Admissions to review.
  • The Office of Admissions will review your application and notify you of an admission decision within 1-2 weeks.
  • You will receive your decision by email and by standard mail.

International Student Requirements

If you’re not a United States citizen, you must show proof of permanent resident visa status. Students educated in another country may be admitted if they:

  • Satisfy general admission requirements
  • Earn a minimum of 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based) or 79 (internet-based) on the Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL) administered by the Educational Testing Service of Princeton, New Jersey

Students from English-speaking countries may choose to take the SAT or ACT as an option to the TOEFL exam. An evaluation of foreign transcripts by the World Education Service or other approved agency is required.
