The management of Point Park University Admission has released the list of Graduate requirements for admission into the institution.

Point Park University Graduate Admission & Requirements

  • Complete the online application for admission and return it with a non-refundable $30 application fee.  Application fee waived if submitted online.
  • Request official transcripts from all previous institution(s) attended and have them sent to Point Park University.
    NOTE: Point Park alumni do not need to request Point Park transcripts. Your counselor will pull those for your file.
  • Submit two letters of recommendation. Your references should be in a position to assess your potential for successful graduate study. Recommendation forms can be downloaded.
    NOTE: MFA candidates are not required to submit letters.
  • GMAT/GRE Scores are not required.

SCHOOL OF ARTS AND SCIENCES

Criminal Justice

M.S. in Criminal Justice Administration
  1. Undergraduate GPA of 2.75 required for full admission.
  2. A 500-word statement explaining the applicant’s motivation for seeking graduate education, professional experience, and career goals.
  3. Submit a current resume.
  4. Two letters of recommendation—one preferably from a current/former professor addressing the applicant’s academic ability for graduate work, and the other letter from a current/former employer.
  5. Students should have successfully completed research methods and quantitative methods classes.
M.A. in Intelligence and Global Security
  1. Undergraduate GPA of 2.75 required for full admission.
  2. A 500-word statement explaining the applicant’s motivation for seeking graduate education, professional experience, and career goals.
  3. Submit a current resume.
  4. Two letters of recommendation—one preferably from a current/former professor addressing the applicant’s academic ability for graduate work, and the other letter from a current/former employer.

Education

M.Ed. in Athletic Coaching and Administration

  1. Submit a current resume.
  2. A statement of purpose is required which addresses how your professional experience and career goals relate to graduate study.
  3. A cumulative minimum GPA of 2.75 is required.

M.A. in Educational Administration

  1. Applicants must have three years of relevant educational experience to be eligible for principalship certification.
  2. Undergraduate QPA of 3.0 required due to PA Department of Education guidelines.
  3. Submit a current resume.
  4. A statement of purpose is required which addresses how your professional experience and career goals relate to graduate study.

M.Ed. in Secondary Education Leading to PA Certification in Grades 7-12

  1. Baccalaureate degree in the content area or related field is required.
  2. Undergraduate QPA of 2.75 required.
  3. Submit a current resume.
  4. A statement of purpose is required which addresses how your professional experience and career goals relate to graduate study.
  5. Prior to admission, for full admission, students must complete PDE requirements, including passing Content Area Praxis exams.

M.A. in Special Education with PA Certification PreK-Grade 12 (for certified teachers)

  1. Undergraduate QPA of 3.0 required due to Pa. Department of Education guidelines.
  2. Submit a current resume.
  3. A statement of purpose is required which addresses how your professional experience and career goals relate to graduate study.
  4. Applicants seeking certification must hold valid PA teaching certificate.

M.Ed. in Special Education with PA Certification PreK-Grade 12 (for candidates seeking initial certification

M.Ed. in Education with PA Certification PreK-Grade 4

  2. A cumulative minimum GPA of 2.75 is required.
  3. A statement of purpose is required which addresses the applicant’s academic/career goals in the field of online learning and what/who has influenced and contributed to these goals.

Master of Education in Learning, Design and Technology

  1. Applicants must hold a valid PA teaching certification to be eligible for the Instructional Technology Specialist Certification or the Online Instruction Endorsement.
  2. Submit a current resume.
  3. A cumulative minimum GPA of 2.75 is required.
  4. A statement of purpose is required which addresses the applicant’s academic/career goals in the field of online learning and what/who has influenced and contributed to these goals.

M.Ed. in Reading and Literacy

  1. A minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.75 required.
  2. Submission of an official transcript showing proof that the student earned a Bachelor’s
    degree from an accredited university.
  3. Submit a current resume.
  4. A 500-word essay explaining the applicant’s motivation for seeking graduate education,
    as well as their professional experience and career goals.
  5. Two letters of recommendation from professional individuals.

M.Ed. in Teaching and Leadership

  1. A minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.75 required.

Natural Sciences and Engineering Technology

M.S. in Engineering Management

  1. Applicants must have an engineering, engineering tech, or related undergraduate degree.

M.S. in Environmental Studies

  1. Applicants must have 6-9 undergraduate credits in university science coursework completed.
  2. Undergraduate QPA of 2.75 required for full admission.

Psychology

M.A. in Community Psychology

  1. Undergraduate QPA of 3.0 is required for full admission.
  2. A 500-word statement of purpose is required that addresses how your professional experience and career goals relate to graduate study.
  3. Degree in psychology, behavioral science or a related discipline preferred. Applicants without an undergraduate degree in psychology must have a minimum of 15 credits of psychology courses.

SCHOOL OF BUSINESS

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

  1. Minimum undergraduate QPA of 2.75 for full admission.
  2. A 500-word statement of purpose is required which addresses how your professional experience and career goals relate to graduate study.
  3. Submit a current resume.

M.S. in Health Care Administration and Management

  1. A statement of purpose is required that addresses how your professional experience and career goals relate to graduate study.
  2. Students must have one or more years of professional experience in a business or health care field. If candidate does not have professional experience, they may present Graduate Record Examination or Graduate Management Admission Test scores.
  3. Submit a current resume.

M.S. in Information Systems and Business Analytics

  1. Undergraduate degree in a business, engineering, math, or science discipline
  2. Applicants below a 3.00 QPA must submit Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores (preferred GRE score 290).
  3. Submit a current resume.
  4. 500 word statement of purpose is required which addresses how your professional experience and career goals relate to graduate study.
  5. For international students: TOEFL score of 70 or above, IELTS score of 6.00 or above.

Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership

  3. Applicants with undergrad QPAs below 2.75 overall and/or less than 3.0 in their major are required to submit official scores from the Graduate Record Examination.

M.A. in Media Communication

Student must satisfy the admissions requirements for both the MBA and M.A. in Media Communication.

CONSERVATORY OF PERFORMING ARTS

M.F.A. in Writing for the Screen and Stage

  1. Submit an artistic portfolio consisting of the following three components:
    a.    Personal essay
    b.    Creative and professional resume
    c.    Portfolio of writing samples not to exceed 25 pages
    All portfolio materials must be submitted online through app.getacceptd.com/pointpark. Applicants are required to create an account to begin the online submission process.
  2. An in-person or phone interview is required of all candidates.
