South Valley University (SVU) covers a large area in Upper Egypt with its two branches in Qena and Red Sea Governorates. The main campus is located in Qena city is 600 km away from south Cairo. The university includes a total of (19) faculties and two institutes. As a branch of Assiut University, the study began at SVU in October 1970. According to a presidential decree, the university became independent on January 2, 1995.
