Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DeKUT) is seeking to recruit qualified candidates to
fill the following vacant positions. INSTITUTE OF GEOMATICS, GIS AND REMOTE SENSING
1. PROFESSOR GRADE 1
The Candidate must;

 Have an earned Ph.D. in Surveying, Geomatics, Geospatial Information Systems,
Photogrammetry or Remote Sensing or equivalent qualification.

 Have at least three (3) years of teaching experience at the university level as a
Associate Professor or equivalent, and research experience

 Have a minimum of sixty (60) publication points since attaining Associate
Professorship or equivalent of which at least forty (40) should be from referred
scholarly journals,

 Have supervised a minimum of five (5) postgraduate students to completion, at least
two doctoral level

 Have attracted research or development funds as Associate Professor or equivalent.
2. ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR GRADE 14
The Candidate must;

 Have an earned Ph.D. in Surveying, Geomatics, Geospatial Information Systems,
Photogrammetry or Remote Sensing or equivalent qualification.

 Have at least three (3) years of teaching experience at the university level Senior
Lecturer or Senior Researcher/Industry experience or equivalent

 Have a minimum of forty-eight (48) publication points as a Senior Lecturer or
the equivalent of which at least thirty-two (32) should be from refereed scholarly
journals,

 Have supervised a minimum of four (4), postgraduate students, to completion, at least one student.

Have attracted research or development funds as Senior Lecturer/Senior Research

Fellow
 Be registered with the relevant professional body (where applicable)

3. SENIOR LECTURER GRADE 13
The Candidate must;

 Have an earned Ph.D. in Surveying, Geomatics, Geospatial Information Systems,
Photogrammetry or Remote Sensing or equivalent qualification.

 Have at least three (3) years of teaching experience at the university level as a
Lecturer or six (6) years research/industry experience

 Have a minimum of 32 publication points as a Lecturer of the equivalent of which 24
should be from refereed scholarly journals

 Have supervised at least three (3) postgraduate students to completion as a Lecturer
or equivalent

 Be registered with the relevant professional body (where applicable)

4. LECTURER, GRADE 12
The candidates must:
Have a Ph.D. in Surveying, Geomatics, Geospatial Information Systems,
Photogrammetry or Remote Sensing or equivalent qualification
OR
 Have a Master’s degree in relevant field Surveying, Geomatics, Geospatial
Information Systems, Photogrammetry or Remote Sensing (in some special cases)
with 3 years of teaching experience at the University
 Have a minimum of 24 publication points of which 16 should be from refereed
journal papers

 Be registered by the relevant professional body

5. TUTORIAL FELLOW

The candidates must:

 Have a Masters of Science in Surveying, Geomatics, Geospatial Information Systems,
Photogrammetry or Remote Sensing or related areas, in addition to a relevant
Bachelor degree.

 In addition, applicants must have published at least one (1) publication in peer-refereed journals and should have knowledge/experience in GIS and Web
Programming, Spatial Databases and use of Open Source Geospatial Software.

 Have made considerable progress in pursuit of the Ph.D. program

 Membership of an appropriate professional body will be an added advantage.

DEPARTMENT OF NURSING
1. SENIOR LECTURER – GRADE 13

The Candidate must;

 Have a Ph.D. in Nursing, Immunology, Microbiology, Medical Biochemistry, Nursing
Education or equivalent qualification

 Have a Master’s degree in Midwifery, Immunology, Microbiology, Medical
Biochemistry, Critical Care/Nephrology, Nursing Education (in some special cases)
with 3 years teaching experience at the University

 Certificate in oracle 10g database administration, ISO 9001:2015 and certificate in job
the analysis will be an added advantage.

 They should have at least three (3) years post-qualifications work experience in a
University or a comparable institution.

3.LEGAL ASSISTANT III GRADE 8

 Must be the holder of Diploma in Law from a recognized institution

 Must have attained a mean grade of a C plain or above.

 They should have at least six (6) years post-qualifications work experience in a
University or comparable institution.

 Should have experience in handling court matters, drafting legal documents and assisting in Council/Board matters

and professional certificates, national identity card or passport, testimonies, and other
relevant supporting documents.
2. The application should be accompanied by evidenced clearance from

(a) Kenya Revenue Authority

(b) Higher Education Loans Board

(d) Certificate of Good Conduct from the Criminal Investigation Department.

3. The applicant should submit two (2) hard copies of the application. The envelope and application should be clearly marked for the position and the department applied in. 4. Applications must be submitted on or before Wednesday, 8
th April 2020.
