Bulawayo Polytechnic Courses Entry Requirement 2023/2024
APPLIED ART AND DESIGN ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Minimum requirements in all courses, at least 5 ‘O’ levels
AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERING ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
National Certificate Courses
Entry requirements
A pass, with a grade “C” or better, in 5 ‘O’ Level subjects including Mathematics, English Language or National Foundation Certificate plus a pass in 4 ‘O’ level subjects with a grade C or better.. These subjects must include either English Language or ,Mathematics and a Science or a technical subject.
National Diploma Courses

A pass in the relevant National Certificate course
Skills Courses
Entry Requirements
No formal qualifications required.
CITY AND GUILDS COURSES
Entry requirements
- Certificate :”O” level or equivalent, Mathematics is not a requirement
- Diploma : City and Guilds Motor Vehicle Engineering Certificate or HEXCO National Certificate in Automotive Engineering
- Advanced Diploma : City and Guilds Motor Vehicle Engineering Diploma or HEXCO National Diploma in Automotive Engineering.

ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Entry requirements
NATIONAL CERTIFICATE
- Five “O” Levels at grade “C” or better including Mathematics, English, and Science.
- National Diploma
- National Certificate or equivalent.
Higher National Diploma
EITHER, a relevant National Diploma OR equivalent.
MECHANICAL ENGINEERING ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
National Certificate Courses
Entry Requirements:
Applicants must have 5 “O” level passes including English Language, Mathematics and a Science subject. All the above courses are offered to both apprentices and direct entry students except for Draughting and Design Technology (DDT) which is offered to direct entry students only.
National Diploma courses
Entry Requirements:
A minimum of grade ‘C’ or better in all the subjects at ‘NC’ in the relevant disciplines or equivalent
CIVIL ENGINEERING ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
National Certificate (HEXCO)
Entry Requirements:
Applicants must have 5 “O” level passes including English Language Mathematics and a Science subject for all the courses except where Mathematics is not required
National Diploma (HEXCO)
Entry requirements:
Applicants must have a National Certificate in the relevant discipline.
Higher National Diploma (HEXCO)
Entry Requirements:
Applicants must have a National Diploma in the relevant discipline.
