Entry Requirement

Bachelor Of Technology (BTech)

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR BACHELOR OF TECHNOLOGY PROGRAMMES

BACHELOR OF TECHNOLOGY (B.TECH) IN APPLIED STATISTICS (FINANCIAL STATISTICS OPTION) – (2 YEARS TOP-UP PROGRAMME) 

  • Applicants must have HND (First Class or Second Class Upper Division) in Statistics with a minimum of two years of working experience. Applicants with Second Class Lower Division will have to attend and pass an interview.
  • Diploma qualifications from elsewhere assessed to be equivalent to HND may be similarly considered.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN COMPUTER SCIENCE

Applicants with Higher National Diploma (HND) in the following areas with a minimum of 2nd Class Lower Division are eligible to apply:

  • HND Computer Science
  • HND Electricals/Electronics
  • HND Computer Network Management
  • Also, applicants with Electrical Engineering Technician Part III (EET III) may also apply

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

Applicants with Higher National Diploma (HND) in the following areas with a minimum of 2nd Class Lower Division are eligible to apply:

  • HND Information Technology
  • HND Computerized Accounting/Marketing/Statistics/Secretaryship
  • HND Computer Science
  • HND Computer Network Management
  • Other related qualification in Computer Science/Engineering

BTECH HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM (TOP-UP)

  • Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates of Hospitality Management or Tourism Management or Hotel Catering and Institutional Management and students transferring from similar programmes run at other tertiary institutions with a minimum of 2ndClass Lower Division may qualify to apply. Admission would be based on merits. OR 
  • Other HND graduates with a qualification not lower than a 2ndClass Lower with a minimum of 3 years working experience in hospitality or tourism-related field. OR

Other applicants with hospitality or tourism-related courses in a managerial position with 5 years of working experience may also apply.

Higher National Diploma (HND)

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR HIGHER NATIONAL DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES

HND STATISTICS

SSSCE/WASSCE APPLICANTS

  • SSSCE Applicants
    • Passes (A-D) in three (3) core subjects namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science or Social Studies plus credit passes in three (3) relevant elective subjects which must include Physics or Elective Mathematics.
  • WASSCE Applicants
    • Passes (A1-D7) in three (3) core subjects namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science or Social Studies plus credit passes in three (3) relevant elective subjects which must include Physics or Elective Mathematics.                 

The aggregate of the six (6) subjects must not exceed 24 for SSSCE and 39 for WASSCE

GBCE/ ‘O’/A’LEVEL/ABCE Applicants

  • At least five (5) GBCE /GCE‘O’-Level credit passes or five (5) GBCE passes including English Language, Mathematics and Additional Mathematics or Physics plus a minimum of two (2) GCE ‘A’ Level/ABCE passes excluding General Paper.
  • TEACHER’S CERTIFICATE.
    • Applicant must have a Three-Year Post-Secondary Certificate or Four Year Certificate ‘A’ with a minimum of two (2) years teaching experience, plus three (3) GCE O-Level or SSSCE/WASSCE passes which must include English Language, Mathematics and Additional Mathematics.
  • ABCE (RSA-III) Applicants
    • Advanced Business Certificate Examination (ABCE)/(RSA-III) plus GBCE/RSA II or 5 GCE O’ Level credit including English, Mathematics and Additional Mathematics.
  • DBS Statistics Applicants
    • Four (4) DBS (Statistics option) passes (including Statistics) plus passes in Mathematics, English and Science or Social Studies/ Life Skills at GCE O’ Level, SSSCE or WASSCE.
  • ISSER Certificate
    • ISSER Certificate in Statistics plus passes in Mathematics, English Language and Science at GCE O’ Level, SSSCE/WASSCE

Mature Applicants

  • Applicants must be twenty-five (25) years old and must show proof of age with a birth certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of date of birth which is twenty-five (5) years old at the time of application.
    • Must pass a written test in English Language, Mathematics and General Knowledge to be conducted by the Koforidua Technical University.

HND COMPUTER SCIENCE

SSSCE/WASSCE APPLICANTS

  • SSSCE Applicants
    • Passes (A-D) in three (3) core subjects namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science plus credit passes in three (3) relevant elective subjects which must include Physics or Elective Mathematics.
  • WASSCE Applicants
    • Passes (A1-D7) in three (3) core subjects namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science plus credit passes in three (3) relevant elective subjects which must include Physics or Elective Mathematics. The aggregate of the six (6) subjects must not exceed 24 for SSSCE and 39 for WASSCE

HND COMPUTER NETWORKING MANAGEMENT

SSSCE/WASSCE APPLICANTS

  • SSSCE Applicants:Passes (A-D) in three (3) core subjects namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science/Social Studies; and must possess a minimum of D in any three (3) of the passes relevant to the area of specialization.
  • WASSCE Applicants: Passes (A1-D7) in three (3) core subjects namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science; and must possess a minimum of C6 in any three (3) of the passes relevant to the area of specialization.

GBCE/ ‘O’/A’LEVEL/ABCE Applicants 

Five (5) GBCE /GCE‘O’-Level credit passes (including English Language and Mathematics) plus at least two (2) GCE ‘A’ Level/ABCE passes excluding General Paper.

  • Applicants from Technical Schools (Certificate II Applicants)Applicants must have passed in three (3) SSSCE/WASSCE subjects including English Language and Mathematics and Integrated Science plus three (3) relevant elective subjects/trade courses.
  • DBS Applicants: Four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE passes including English and Mathematics plus at least three (3) passes in relevant DBS subjects.
  • Teacher’s Certificate: Applicant must have Three- Year Post-Secondary Certificate or Four Year Certificate ‘A’ with a minimum of two (2) years teaching experience, plus three (3) GCE O-Level or SSSCE/WASSCE passes in relevant elective subjects.

Mature Applicants

    • Applicants must be twenty-five (25) years old and must show proof of age with a birth certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of date of birth which is five (5) years old at the time of application.
    • Must pass a written test in English Language, Mathematics and General Knowledge to be conducted by the Koforidua Technical University.

HND HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT

SSSCE/WASSCE APPLICANTS

SSSCE Applicants

Passes (A-D) in three (3) core subjects namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science plus credit passes in three (3) relevant elective subjects from:

  • Home Economics: Foods & Nutrition, Economics, Management in Living, General Knowledge in Art or French
  • General Arts: Geography, French, and Economics
  • Business: Accounting, Costing Business Management and Business Mathematics
  • Science: Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics

WASSCE Applicants Passes (A1-D7) in three (3) core subjects namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science plus credit passes in three (3) relevant elective subjects from:

  • Home Economics: Foods & Nutrition, Economics, Management in Living, General Knowledge in Art or French
  • General Arts: Geography, French, and Economics
  • Business: Accounting, Costing Business Management and Business Mathematics
  • Science: Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics The aggregate of the six (6) subjects must not exceed 24 for SSSCE and 39 for WASSCE.

GBCE/ ‘O’/A’LEVEL/ABCE/RSA/ A Level Applicants

At least five (5) GBCE /GCE‘O’-Level credit passes or five (5) GBCE passes including English Language, Mathematics plus a minimum of  two (2) GCE ‘A’ level/ABCE passes excluding General Paper.

  • Teacher’s Certificate: Applicant must have Three-Year Post-Secondary Certificate or Four Year Certificate ‘A’ with a minimum of two (2) years teaching experience, plus three (3) GCE O-Level or SSSCE/WASSCE passes which must include English Language and Mathematics.

Other Qualifications

  • Cookery 812/1 holders with aggregate 25 or 26 (including English and Mathematics) at the SSSCE/WASSCE or O’ Levels with at least 1-year industrial experience may be considered.
  • Professionals with Cookery 812/2 (706/2) and Pre-HND Holders
  • Applicants with Cookery 812/2 Certificate must have at least passes in English, Mathematics and Integrated Science or Social Studies at the SSSCE/WASSCE or GCE O’ Levels
  • Cookery 812/2 plus three passes in English, Mathematics and Integrated Science at the Pre-HND level.

Mature Applicants 

  • Applicants must be twenty-five (25) years old and must show proof of age with a birth certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of date of birth which is twenty-five (25) years old at the time of application.
  • Must pass a written test in English Language, Mathematics and General Knowledge to be conducted by Koforidua Technical University. 

HND FOOD TECHNOLOGY

SSSCE/WASSCE Applicants

SSSCE Applicants

  • Passes (A-D) in three (3) core subjects namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science/Social Studies; and must possess a minimum of D in any three (3) of the following: Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science. 

WASSCE Applicants:

  • Passes (A1-D7) in three (3) core subjects namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science/Social Studies; and must possess a minimum of D in any three (3) of the following: Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science. The aggregate of the six (6) subjects must not exceed 24 for SSSCE and 39 for WASSCE
  • Pre-HND Applicants
    • Background in Laboratory Technician certificate plus at least passes in each of the three subjects namely; NABPTEX English language, Mathematics and Science.

Teacher’s Certificate ‘A’ Applicants

  • Four-year Certificate ‘A’ or three-year Post-Secondary Certificate and Four GCE ‘O’ credit passes including English language, Mathematics and any science subject (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Agricultural Science etc.) OR
  • Holders of Diploma in Education certificate

Laboratory Technician Certificate:

  • Applicants must have a minimum of two (2) years of relevant working experience and
  • Must pass a written examination in English Language, Mathematics and General knowledge conducted by Koforidua Technical University.

Mature Student

  • Applicants must have 5 GCE ‘O’ Level/SSSCE/WASSCE passes in relevant subjects including English, Mathematics, Integrated Science OR

HND POSTHARVEST TECHNOLOGY

SSSCE/WASSCE Applicants

  • SSSCE Applicants: Passes (A-D) in three (3) core subjects namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science; and must possess a minimum of D in any three (3) of the following: Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics, or alternatively must possess a minimum of D in General Agriculture, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics.
  • WASSCE Applicants:
    Passes (A1-D7) in three (3) core subjects namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science; and must possess a minimum of D in any three (3) of the following: Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics, or alternatively must possess a minimum of D in General Agriculture, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics. The aggregate of the six (6) subjects must not exceed 24 for SSSCE and 39 for WASSCE
  • Teacher’s Certificate ‘A’ Applicants:Four-year Certificate ‘A’ or three-year Post-Secondary Certificate and Four GCE ‘O’ credit passes including English language, Mathematics and any science subject (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Agricultural Science etc.)
  • Diploma in General Agriculture
    • Holders of Diploma in General Agriculture may apply for consideration
    • HND graduates from Science, Engineering and Computer Science programmes who may want to switch from their programmes

 Mature Applicants

  • Applicants must be twenty-five (25) years old and must show proof of age with a birth certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of date of birth which is twenty-five (25) years old at the time of application.
  • Must pass a written test in English Language, Mathematics and General Knowledge to be conducted by Koforidua Technical University.

HND FASHION DESIGN AND TEXTILES

SSSCE/WASSCE Applicants 

  • SSSCE Applicants
    Passes (A-D) in three (3) core subjects namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science/Social Studies plus credit passes in three (3) relevant elective subjects which must include Clothing & Textiles, General Knowledge in Art (GKA), Textiles, Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Technical Drawing, Management in Living, French, Economics, Geography, Accounting, Physics, Biology, Elective Mathematics, Literature and all related subjects.
  • WASSCE Applicants Passes (A1-D7) in three (3) core subjects namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science/Social Studies plus credit passes in three (3) relevant elective subjects which must include Clothing & Textiles, General Knowledge in Art (GKA), Textiles, Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Technical Drawing, Management in Living, French, Economics, Geography, Accounting, Physics, Biology, Elective Mathematics, Literature and all related subjects. The aggregate of the six (6) subjects must not exceed 24 for SSSCE and 39 for WASSCE

  • Advanced Fashion Certificate from Technical Examinations Unit
  • Certificate II Fashion Certificate with three (3) passes in Core Subjects
  • Teacher’s Certificate. Applicant must have a Three-Year Post-Secondary Certificate or Four Year Certificate ‘A’ with a minimum of two (2) years teaching experience, plus three (3) GCE O-Level or SSSCE/WASSCE passes which must include English Language, Mathematics and Science OR One (1) year Diploma in Education

Mature Applicants
