The Makerere University admission requirement is the first step in your application process. Like other institutions of learning, admission into the Makerere University is subject to meeting the admission requirement for your choice of course.
Admission Requirements for Certificate & Diploma Programmes Makerere University
Certificate
Passes in all four Core subjects and any two Electives relevant to the course.
Diploma
Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations
Passes in all the core subjects i.e. Core English, Core Mathematics

- FST – Bachelor of Science In Food Science And Technology (4 Years)
- AGE – Bachelor of Science In Agricultural Engineering (4 Years)
- BAR – Bachelor of Agricultural And Rural Innovation (3 Years)
- BAM – Bachelor of Science In Agricultural Land Use And Management (3 Years)
- HOT – Bachelor of Science In Horticulture
- AGM – Bachelor of Agribusiness Management
- HUN – Bachelor of Science In Human Nutrition
- BVS – Bachelor of Environmental Science
- BMT – Bachelor of Science in Meteorology
- BOF – Bachelor of Science in Forestry (4 Years)
- BTH – Bachelor of Science in Tourism and Hospitality Management (3 Years)

NOTE: ONLY applicants who have met the admission requirements shall be considered for admission.
Admission Requirements for Postgraduate Programmes at Makerere University
Applicants should have obtained at least a first or second class degree (or its equivalent) from a Chartered University at the time of completion. Applicants should also possess a Uganda Certificate ofEducation (or its equivalent) and a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (or its equivalent).
NOTE: ONLY applicants who have met the admission requirements shall be considered for admission.
Makerere University Application Steps
Follow the steps below to complete the application process:
Step 1: Obtain the Application Form.
Step 2: Obtain the Brochure, and go through it before completing the application form.
Step 3: Once you are done with STEP 2, fill out the application form and attach relevant documents(s)
Step 4: In this step, you are either to forward the application form back to the institution or if you were on the online application portal, you click on ‘submit application’
Once you have done with the application process, the next step is to wait for the names of selected applicants.
