Job Description

Kenya Commercial Bank Limited is registered as a non-operating holding company which started operations as a licensed banking institution with effect from January 1, 2016. The holding company oversees KCB Kenya – incorporated with effect from January 1, 2016 – and all KCB’s regional units in Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia and South Sudan. It also owns KCB Insurance Agency, KCB Capital, KCB Foundation and all associate companies. The holding company was set up to among other things to enhance the Group’s capacity to access unrestricted capital and also enable investment in new ventures outside banking regulations, achieve operational and strategic autonomy for the Group’s operating entities and enhance corporate governance across the Group and oversight in management of subsidiaries.

1. Assistant Claims Manager – KCBIA

Job Purpose:

Overall Underwriting and Claims strategy and ensuring all underwriting operations are in compliance with the Company and regulatory requirements. Claims management and ensuring all claims operations follow the Company and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Daily reporting on claims (Motor, Non-Motor) claims (Age, Underwriters, Progress), SLA non-compliance
  • Ensure daily back office follow up on claims outstanding and report to team.
  • Maintain and monitor underwriter claims SLA tracker.
  • Develop and maintain all claims checklists/ requirements, communication to all relevant teams through circulars, branch training, e-shots etc
  • Ensure all claims are updated in the Insurance processing system (TQ)
  • Closure of all ECRMS claims tickets.
  • Claims process documentation.
  • Claims process SLA development with partner organizations and teams.
  • Escalations on static claims within timelines and schedule underwriter engagements
  • Preparation of combined claims reports on daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting.

Job Requirements:

  • University degree in preferably a Business / Sales & Marketing related course
  • Professional Qualifications (ACII/IIK); Diploma or above will be an added advantage
  • Post graduate Diploma in Marketing or Sales will be an added advantage
  • At least 4 years’ experience in Insurance Claims Administration.
  • Results oriented and self-driven with a proven performance track record
  • Comprehensive knowledge of General and Medical insurance products
  • Good planning, organization, and reporting skills with the ability to deliver effectively under strict deadlines
  • Ability to understand the impact of operational initiatives from a sales/marketing perspective
  • Excellent communication, presentation and customer service skills
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office software applications.

2. Head of Consumer Credit Unit

Job Purpose:

Consumer credit is responsible for approval of consumer loans with the aim of ensuring proper credit risk appetite is maintained. It works closely with retail division, shared services division, and legal division with a focus on proper post approval criteria on the various loans are maintained.

To support the growth consumer loans portfolio by making quality credit decisions according to banks credit policy and CBK prudential guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and approve Credit Facilities within the allocated Lending Discretionary Limit
  • Make recommendations /present credit papers to the Director Credit for any Credit Facility amounts falling above delegated discretion.
  • Assess and grant authority for roll-out of check-off schemes within approved discretion and make recommendations to the Director Credit, for those of values exceeding the delegated limit.
  • Ensure a collaborative approach to the Business/Credit functions’ partnership.
  • Enforce efficient turnaround times (TAT) on Consumer loans in line with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Review Retail Consumer Loans policies on a continuous basis in line with sound risk management practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a good loan book through development of the Unit’s strategies that mitigate against credit risks, review exposures under the various schemes and products and keep migration of Consumer lending (Personal lending, Residential Mortgages, Car loans to customers, Staff loans etc.) to NPLs, to less than 3%.
  • Develop and manage the Unit’s capabilities, Staff performance competencies, process controls and excellent service delivery system, to be measured through internal audit rating and both internal and external satisfaction survey indices.
  • Manage the Unit’s annual Capex and OPEX budget.

Job Requirements:

  • Degree from a University recognized by CUE. MBA degree will be an added advantage
  • Professional qualification in ACIB / AKIB will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 10 years of wide-ranging bank experience, having a minimum of 4 years’ Senior management level experience in Credit Administration, Credit Analysis, Debt Recovery and Lending related roles.
  • At least 4 years’ experience in Managing large teams.
  • Proven experience engaging with Banking Regulator, with demonstrated sound understanding of the regulatory environment including CBK Prudential Guidelines
  • Demonstrable understanding of Business fundamentals and the financial services industry.
  • Must have awareness of current business trends, risks, challenges and opportunities.

3. Customer Insights Analyst

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing guidance, analysis and support through data and market insight on technology impacting financial services.
  • Deliver real time insight into the marketplace and help focus our innovation and development process in the most relevant area.
  • Work closely with research team to carry design and roll out research to check customer and market insights to support business case developments, products design and user journey workings.
  • Participate in research design, analysis and the presentation of data to uncover unique actionable insights about behavior, technology & financial services.
  • Define insightful hypotheses and identify methods to leverage KCB’s large internal data sets to validate hypotheses and enhance 3rd party research work with proprietary data.
  • Data mining for customer segmentation, customer value analytics and promotion results.
  • Monitor customer usage patterns/metrics of each product/feature to advise opportunities for new products, services or opportunities for new revenue lines & user experiences.
  • Provide the Sales force/DSRs with data for proper targeting and qualification, cross and up-sell targeting.
  • Daily/weekly/ monthly tracking for merchants & agents to DSRs, per branch for remedial actions.
  • Customer churn reduction, customer loyalty identification.
  • Pricing and Tariffs for Digital Products.
  • Developing reports, presentations and marketing data to support the business.

The Person:

4. Products Data Analyst

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transform large, complex datasets into pragmatic, actionable insights, leverage data to identify, quantify and influence tangible business gain by performing ad-hoc analysis and presenting results in reports, dashboards and charts.
  • Establish viability for new products in the market – Business Cases formulation outlining revenue lines and costs for each product.
  • Product Performance Reports – Daily/Weekly/Monthly/Quarterly Reports to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Competitor products analysis to benchmark on performance, market share and determine opportunities for growth.
  • Collaboration with the Data Analytics Team in Strategy as Centre of Excellence in strategy for tools and working models.
  • Developing reports, presentations and marketing materials to support business & product development.

The Person:

For the above position, the successful applicant should have the following:

5. Product Manager Savings & Lending

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gain a deep understanding of customer experience, identify and fill product gaps and generate new ideas that grow market share, improve customer experience and drive product product pipeline build.
  • Work with cross functional business teams to ensure end to end digitization of their portfolio even as we seek to deliver innovations.
  • Work with different stakeholders including Technology, Marketing, Risk, Customer Experience and Operations team in ensuring product delivery standards and governance are adhered to.
  • Translate through documentation, product strategy into detailed requirements, work with stakeholders on scorecards, systems integrations and focus customer segmentation to deliver quick time-to-market using optimal resources.
  • Support development of promotional plans to ensure that they are consistent with product line strategy and that the message is effectively conveyed.
  • Work with external third parties to deliver partnership products and ensure seamless product launch where product development is with 3rd party partners, fintechs and vendors.
  • Run beta and pilot programs with early-stage products and samples to evaluate product fit and viability (minimum viable products – MVPs) to determine fast test to grow or cull the portfolio additions.
