RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct a baseline on the effectiveness of Poa health and safety processes and define process improvements with target metrics to mitigate and reduce workplace hazards, risks and accidents – End Q123
- Conduct quarterly checks on Health and Safety compliance requirements for Poa by keeping abreast of best-practice, industry-practice, updates and statutory requirements to ensure Poa meets ESG requirements – End Q123
- Secure the health, safety and welfare of employees and other people at work through regular workplace inspections, and recommend control measures to address the identified hazards. Perform compliance audit checks for all departments at least once a quarter, form action plans and track compliance – End Q123
- Foster a culture of attention to health and safety through regular safety training to increase awareness about workplace hazards and to increase competencies in performing tasks safely, i.e. daily toolbox talks, PPE training, and induction training. Ensure 100% of all new staff are trained on workplace safety within 1 month of joining Poa. Ensure 100% of staff have refresher trainings by end of Q1 2023 – End Q123
- Provide quarterly progress reports on OSH to all stakeholders, using quantitative and qualitative data – End Q123
- Provide monthly reports on progress against corrective action plans. (Number of Reported Accidents & Incidents; Productive Days %; Average Time To Resolution of Risks & Issues) – End of each month
- In the event of a major incident, conduct safety investigations to determine a root cause and document findings and recommendations to prevent a recurrence. (Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate & Incidence Rate) – within 30 days of incident occurrence
Level of Management Experience Required (Mandatory & Nice to Have)
- Mandatory – Demonstrated experience managing the end-to-end technical and operational OSH guidelines, legislation and procedures

Requirements
Key Competencies Criticality (H, M, L)
- Solid understanding of OSH Act (and, as required, environmental management systems, policies and practices against legal requirements) and workplace safety and health issues – H
- Knowledge of hazardous materials or practices in the workplace – H
- Conscientious and able to mitigate workplace health and safety issues and enforce procedures – H
- Skilled in compiling and maintaining relevant registers to ensure compliance – M
- Skilled in conducting data analysis and reporting statistics – M
- Experience in OSH auditing and writing reports for health and safety – M
- Detail-oriented and quick to act in emergencies – H
Mandatory Criteria if Any with no exceptions to hire.

- At least 3 years of relevant industry experience in a supervisory capacity
- BSc/BA in safety management, engineering or a relevant field is preferred
- Certificate in occupational health and safety (NEBOSH preferred if available)
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics
- Knowledge of local environmental, health and safety laws
