Stanbic Bank is a division of Standard Bank, a member of the Standard Bank Group, based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Stanbic Bank was adopted as a trading name in 1992, when the Standard Bank Group, then known as Standard Bank Investment Corporation, acquired the African operations of ANZ Grindlays Bank. The new name was adopted to avoid confusion with the Standard Bank’s British former parent bank, Standard Chartered Bank, which continued to operate in Africa.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with business units to develop and implement an integrated logistics and procurement strategy; ensuring alignment of processes and activities.
  • Lead implementation of the Standard Bank Group (SBG) procurement policies and procedures ensuring a consistent and standardised approach to vendor management.
  • Drive efficiencies in the Bank’s procurement strategies, policies and processes incorporating local legislative requirements, digitisation and applying business insights and objectives ensuring procurement remains strategically relevant.

Risk, Regulatory, Prudential & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with policy and procedural directives within the procurement function, and provide management reporting on functional performance
  • Collaborate with Business units to identify and implement continuous improvements in processes, systems and procedures
  • Ensure external compliance and optimisation of the delivery of administration and procurement services
  • Responsible for ensuring Third Party Risk management and Stanbic Bank’s Procurement frameworks are adhered to by business teams consistently and effectively partner to conduct risk assessments using established processes and frameworks.
  • Manage contracting within allocated category ensuring contracts are structured to mitigate exchange rate fluctuations ensuring that SBG is adequately protected from price fluctuations
  • Lead the full sourcing value chain for allocated category including supplier and contract management, entrenching governance principles and supplier relationship management to manage category spend across the SBG.

Client

  • Collaborate with business units to identify services and activities to support current and future customer needs
  • Provide guidance to the Procurement team on the implementation of category strategies for low and medium risk Goods and/or Services ensuring consistent sourcing practices
  • Facilitate the clarification of complex technical questions that have a potential to impact across the category ensuring the commodity sourcing team is kept informed to enable effective servicing.

Financial Management

  • Ensure operational costs are in line with relevant budgetary controls
  • Ensure that all activities and the deployment of resources within the function are consistent with its mission and the Bank’s budgets and guidelines
  • Regularly conduct purchase spend analysis and audits, to ensure minimal waste, non value-adding supply links and optimise the Bank’s supply chain operations

People

  • Build, maintain and manage a high performing team by providing leadership, role clarity, training and career development and monitor team performance.
  • Drive the desired SBG people culture by providing coaching, mentorship and development opportunities to direct reports ensuring the reportees are engaged and motivated in order to deliver on the procurement objectives.
  • Develop, cascade, and monitor performance goals for direct reports ensuring goals are aligned to the Group Procurement annual deliverables and role.

Technology and Architecture

  • Drive the automation of procurement processes to automate the vendor contract management process end to end reporting aligned to SBG procurement mandate.
  • Lead in the achievement of SLAs and monitor SLA compliance within the admin, logistics and procurement area
  • Lead the procurement process, collaborating with business units to identify needs, manage the tender process, identify and onboard suppliers and monitor supplier performance.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Type of Qualification Field of Study
  • Bachelors Degree Procurement or Business Related
  • Masters Degree Business Commerce
  • Post Graduate Diploma Purchasing and Procurement

Experience Required

  • 7 years experience in the procurement function.
  • 8-10 years experience in managing a shared services environment of a business unit
  • Minimum 5 years’ in senior management level
