Tavevo Water and Sewerage Company Ltd, was incorporated on April 7, 2006 as a private company limited by shares to give it autonomy and enable it operate commercially. The major shareholders of the company were Municipal Council of Voi, County Council of Taita Taveta and Town Council of Taveta which now are the County of Taita Taveva. The company is one of the WSPs in the CWSB jurisdiction and has been contracted to provide water and sewerage services in Taita Taveta County under a Service Provision Agreement.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop departmental strategies, policies and plans to facilitate achievement of departmental objectives.
  • Directs, coordinates, controls, and manages departmental operation and maintenance of infrastructure to ensure that water and sewerage services are provided to the required standards in all branches of the company.
  • Continuously evaluate market demand for water and sewerage services and develop production, distribution and sewerage plans and strategies to meet demand.
  • Develops and maintain good working relations with staff, customers, and stakeholders.
  • Develop departmental staff by ensuring that they are properly trained and motivated.
  • Manages all projects, major and minor construction works.
  • Monitors internal and external resources.
  • Ensures proper management of departmental resources such as machinery through effective maintenance and repairs to maximize return on investment.
  • Continuously monitor performance of water production, water quality and distribution process against benchmarks and established standards.
  • Continuously seek ways to improve production, while minimizing unaccounted for water.
  • Oversee abstraction and treatment of water.
  • Prepares technical reports.

QUALIFICATION

  • Be a holder of a bachelor’s degree in Water or Civil Engineering or Water related field from a recognized institution.
  • Must possess a minimum of five (5) years in utility operations, three (3) years in a senior management position.
  • Must be registered with the relevant professional body
