3. Chemical & Process Operator

Job purpose

To run soap plant and finishing line efficiently at the required output level as per plant rated capacities and maintain the quality required by the customer specifications and regulatory bodies.

Principal Roles

  • Monitor instruments to ensure proper production conditions.
  • Regulate or shut down equipment during emergency situations, as directed by supervisory personnel.
  • Control or operate chemical processes or systems of machines, using panel boards, control boards, or semi-automatic equipment.
  • Move control settings to make necessary adjustments on equipment units affecting speeds of chemical reactions, quality, or yields.
  • Inspect operating units, such as towers, soap-spray storage tanks, scrubbers, collectors, or driers to ensure that all are functioning and to maintain maximum efficiency.
  • Draw samples of products and conduct quality control tests to monitor processing and to ensure that standards are met.
  • Test chemical or physical characteristics of materials or products.
  • Record operating data, such as process conditions, test results, or instrument readings.
  • Patrol work areas to ensure that solutions in tanks or troughs are not in danger of overflowing.
  • Interpret chemical reactions visible through sight glasses or on television monitors and review laboratory test reports for process adjustments.
  • Confer with technical and supervisory personnel to report or resolve conditions affecting safety, efficiency, or product quality.
  • Gauge tank levels, using calibrated rods.
  • Notify maintenance, stationary-engineering, or other auxiliary personnel to correct equipment malfunctions or to adjust power, steam, water, or air supplies. Notify others of equipment repair or maintenance needs.
  • Calculate material requirements or yields according to formulas.
  • Direct workers engaged in operating machinery that regulates the flow of materials and products.
  • Supervise the cleaning of towers, strainers, or spray tips.
  • Defrost frozen valves, using steam hoses.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum Diploma in any of the Engineering course
    • Chemical & Process Engineering
    • Instrumentation & Control engineering
    • Mechanical engineering (Plant)
  • Minimum Years of experience: 2

5. Quality Compliance Officer

Position Scope:

The Quality Assurance Compliance Officer performs compliance activities in support of production departments. Areas of responsibilities may include review of documents such as batch records, charts, ensuring compliance with KEBS requirements. The Compliance Officer also performs audits as assigned and participates in customer and regulatory audits as part of the Audit Team. All activities are performed according to internal Quality System requirements, GMP and ISO standards.

Strategic Focus Areas:

  1. Participate in projects and activities which support the top and bottom-line growth of the company through compliant improvement activities
  2. Provide leadership for quality compliance activities and initiatives
  3. Create a positive image through communication and interaction with key stakeholders including employees, customers, partners, vendors, and appropriate governmental and regulatory authorities

Specific Tactical Responsibilities:

  • Review and approve supplemental logs, charts and other documents in support of cGMP operations
  • Review batch records and certificates of analysis for accuracy and completion prior to final release of product
  • Maintain the Approved Supplier List including updating and reviewing performance of vendors
  • Provide quality input and maintain the files for change controls and planned deviations
  • Provide document control support
  • Issue and reconcile batch records
  • Maintain device history files
  • Perform internal and external audits as assigned
  • Assist in the maintenance and implementation of the Quality System
  • Participate in project teams and perform other related duties as assigned
  • Responsible for other duties and projects as assigned
  • Exercises judgment within defined parameters and policies; expected to propose practice and policy improvements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in the life sciences or relevant experience
  • 2- 4 years industry experience in a Quality Compliance function
  • Knowledge of GMP/ISO requirements,
  • Experience auditing in a GMP/ISO environment
  • Job requires current knowledge of all applicable international regulation and regulatory guidance.

Desired Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:

  • Ability to interact positively and professionally with internal and external customers
  • Ability to work autonomously, effectively manage time and deliver results on time
  • Requires proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets and databases
  • Excellent presentation skills, both written and in platform presentation format.

6. Senior Support staff – Quality Control

Overall purpose of the job

  • The overall purpose of this job is to ensure all products conform to the set specifications by performing laboratory analysis and communicating the results in a timely manner.

Specific duties:

  • Perform routine and non-routine tests and analyses using the appropriate technical equipment and instruments.
  • Advise production teams on necessary changes to process.
  • Evidence for regulatory bodies and customers for process controls.
  • To initiate root cause analysis that would assist on closure of quality gaps
  • Maintain equipment in proper working order per lab guidelines; maintain a clean work area;
  • Standardize all reagents per SOPs
  • Performance analysis of products
  • Monitoring and advising of quality product and process of soap 

Education: Minimum of a Diploma in any of the below field of study.

  • Analytical chemistry,
  • Food science,
  • Laboratory technology,
  • Chemical & Process engineering
  • Any other science related fields.

Experience, Skills and Competences:

  • 1 year experience in laboratory analysis.
  • Soap and edible oil process.
  • Standardization of reagents
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent RCA skills.
