This includes making sure products are available when and where they are needed and primary health care services are delivered to the most under-reached.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Waste Management (30%): In consultation with VillageReach supply chain global technical team, the incumbent will support the implementation of comprehensive vaccine management, and waste management practices with guidance from global goods that support SC strengthening efforts at country level. In collaboration with other stakeholders, deploy and scale tools, guidance and practices that ensure comprehensive vaccine management (CVM), waste management, and continuous improvement to support uptake and sustainability of SC at country level. Develop and disseminate waste management best practices and learnings from COVID-19.
  • Forecasting (25%): Provide technical support in vaccine forecasting and inventory management. Working in collaboration with other partners, operationalize the Forecasting Toolbox based on country-level input and building on best practices from other health areas. Provide technical support on implementing key elements of the forecasting toolbox in specific countries and pressure testing specific tools within the Forecasting Toolbox, and working with5 stakeholders in specific countries to customize the tools to meet specific country needs.
  • Cold Chain (30%): Provide technical support for cold chain planning, performance monitoring, maintenance and financial sustainability through innovative approaches. Support the development of protocols for data collection and analytics to marry temperature data and maintenance fixes to link and correlate in order to improve cold chain maintenance and continuous improvement. Working with other partners, this role will also support the development of protocols for collecting data from RTMD and development of a how-to guide for temperature data and health equipment.
  • Supply Chain General (15 %): Inform global practices and policies through developing a robust evidence base, insightful analytical perspective, and practical lessons-learned from projects undertaken by the Supply Chain Global Technical Team. Develop relationships with key stakeholders in the public health supply chain and establish yourself as a respected and trusted advisor on supply chain issues. Working with the Senior Manager Supply Chain, coordinate activities for the supply chain community of practice (CoP) including sharing lessons learned, planning of group activities, knowledge and information management, scheduling of meetings, development of meeting agenda and tracking and CoP objectives against targets.

Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent education and experience in pharmacy, supply chain management, public health, international development, business or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years work experience working in supply chains within public or private sector. Prefer 5 years.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, depth and breadth of technical, management expertise for complex programs in resource-constrained countries;
  • Demonstrated experience interacting with government agencies, host country governments and counterparts, and international donor agencies; excellent networking and partnership building skills
  • Excellent planning and prioritization skills as well as creative problem-solving and analytical skills;
  • Experience working within global health supply chain will be an added advantage.
  • Experience working on cold chain equipment, waste management and forecasting and inventory management
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of immunization supply chain
  • Understanding of the challenges with cold chain equipment and vaccine waste management
  • Experience working with geographically distributed teams
  • Readiness to travel in-country 25% of the time to supervise project activities

  • Demonstrated understanding of challenges with working in rural, underserved and low-income context; experience living in and/or working in a low-income country a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) and comfortable in a fast-paced technical environment.
  • Proficiency in English required, plus either French or Portuguese preferred.
  • Consulting skills to design engagements and manage complex stakeholder environments
  • Collaboration skills to develop and manage relationships with clients (TA providers) and key stakeholders
  • Communications skills to present convincingly to senior government officials, TA partners and conference audiences
  • French or Portuguese speaker preferred
