RESPONSIBILITIES:

For This Consultancy, The Deliverables Will Include

  • Technical support to the KIM team to develop and execute Year 5 work plan for WEE activities.
  • Technical support to integrate USAID’s Gender Equity & Social Inclusion policy across all KIM activities, ( BASPs, FIs, Business Enabling Environment, Strategic partners, DFC FIs, Procurement, Communications, and M&E),
  • Technical support to the KIM team to develop and execute sustainable program activity
  • WEE public Gender Equity & Social Inclusion events, in collaboration with women associations
  • Women Executive Program at Strathmore University including a Partnership with USAID’s Small Business Centers program
  • Market connections between W-SME’s and FIs/investors with support from BASPs for investment readiness
  • Capacity Building Support for the Gender Specialist and KIM team on gender equity and socially inclusive activity design and implementation
  • Monthly WEE activity status reports delivered, with inputs from the Gender Specialist, submitted to the DCOP, and COP from September 2022 to July 2023.

Technical Oversight and Supervision

The consultant will report to the KIM DCOP with the Chief of Party in copy on correspondence.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in International Development, Gender Studies, Law, or a related field from an accredited university.
  • At least ten (10) years of experience in MSME finance, gender lens investing, or women’s entrepreneurship programming.
  • Proven expertise in gender and social inclusion, and gender-focused analysis.
  • Proven track record engaging with commercial banks to design and roll out products and services targeting women. Experience developing products and services for W-SMEs preferred.
  • Experience designing and implementing gender-related trainings and workshops related to finance and investment.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with an ability to tailor the tone, content, and form of written output in line with a range of different audiences and to suit a variety of formats.
  • Proven success in dealing with complicated program partnerships and skills in prioritizing major strategies and critical relationships.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
