Responsibilities:

The job holder is in charge of the directorate of the corporate services. He/She is to provide strategic leadership, coordination and management of Financial Accounts, Human Resource Management and Development, Administration of information and Communications Technology and Corporate Communications Departments.

He/She will be responsible for the development, operationalization and implementation of strategies and policies of the directorate in accordance with the policies specified by the board of directors and implementing and enforcing relevant Government circular & Directives.

These are experts in any of the specific fields of Law with requisite experience. They should inter alia have an in-depth understanding of the skills expected of ATP candidates in the Advocates Training Programme (ATP). Qualifications

  • LLB degree with 7 years’ experience in practice or
  • Masters degree in Law, Accounting, Finance, Human Resource Management with a
  • minimum of 7 years teaching experience. A PhD in the relevant field will be an added advantage.Experience in setting examinations for other professional examining bodies will also ban added advantage.
  • Ability to work within strict deadlines

Responsibilities:

  •  Organize and convene, through support to the INC Chair, the intergovernmental meetings necessary to provide a strong platform for negotiation, including but not limited to regional preparatory meetings, and the INC meetings;
  •  Provide strategic coordination and lead the provision of technical, legal and administrative support for the development of the instrument;
  •  Provide advice to the Executive Director on all matters related to the development of the instrument;

  •  Lead engagement with partners, including financial institutions, towards the successful development of a financial mechanism to support the implementation of the instrument;
  •  Lead the interagency work of the Secretariat in close cooperation and coordination with Multilateral Environmental Agreements and with other chemicals and waste related conventions, including the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm conventions, to support the development of the draft instrument;
  •  Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements:

Education;

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Environmental Science, Chemistry; Natural sciences; Law, Public or Business Administration; International and/or Environmental Studies or other related area is required.
  • A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience;

  • A minimum of fifteen (15) years of professional and progressively responsible experience, in the area of environment and sustainable development, out of which at least seven (7) years are at the international level is required.
  • Experience in leading intergovernmental environmental processes is required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Willingness to work flexibly from the CI Nairobi office and/or from home.
  • Periodic travel to the project site and other office locations.
  • Comfortable working out of doors for extended periods.
  • Ability and willingness to work outside the normal work schedule to meet project deadlines.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree or relevant combination of education and experience, and 4 to 6 years of related work experience in project management, including planning and budgeting
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to detect problems and identify solutions.
  • Team player and able to work effectively with diverse workgroups in a multicultural environment.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, multitask, set priorities, and deliver quality results.

An  appreciation  of  enabling   HR  processes,  specifically   talent   management, performance management , grading architecture and job descriptions.
  • Change Management experience will be an added advantage

Qualifications:

  • Supervise and provide training, mentorship, and other technical support to community workers directly involved with the psychosocial component of the International Rescue Committee ’s GBV Programme.
  • Provide leadership and guidance regarding psychosocial activities to all community workers to ensure all Programme activities meet best practice standards.
  • Monitor and supervise case management, including capacity building through training and on-the-job training of community workers/volunteers. Training topics should include active listening and effective communication, action, and safety planning, GBV guiding principles, GBV basic concepts, and other related topics

Qualifications

  • Diploma in counseling and/or psychology. A Social Science or related degree is preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of direct psychosocial/counseling experience with a reputable agency; experience working with survivors of violence preferred.
  • Clear understanding of gender, abuse of power, and issues surrounding violence against women
  • Highly motivated, creative, and compassionate person who is dedicated to ensuring that models of best practice are utilized.
  • Able to uphold high ethical and professional standards.
  • Able to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality and respect for clients at all times.
